Pevnost Dobrošov

Above Náchod is one of the most interesting places for military history lovers – Pevnost Dobrošov. The exposition with three objects is accessible from the parking lot located about 400 metres from the visitor centre, and it is also partly wheelchair accessible. Dobrošov offers partial wheelchair access; prior telephone arrangement is required. Guided tours take you into the underground passages. Therefore, it is important to dress well for your visit to Dobrošov. The underground temperature is only around 8°C.

Jiráskova chata

From Dobrošov, head to the nearby Jiráskova chata. The tourist chalet designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič provides both accommodation and refreshments in a stylish restaurant. You can go to the viewpoint as well. Since the chalet is located at an altitude of 624 m above sea level, there is a beautiful view of the nearby surroundings – for example, Náchod Castle, but also of the neighbours in Poland. Access to the observation tower is not barrier-free, but the restaurant and restrooms are.

Museum of Fortification in Běloves

The next stop after military history is the Museum of Fortification in Běloves. The entrance to the building is the N-S 84 Voda infantry cabin with an exposition of the Czechoslovak army during the First and Second World Wars.

Malé lázně Běloves

Malé lázně Běloves is the reward for your day trip. In the former spa area of Náchod, there are several stops for rest and refreshment. The spa also hosts numerous cultural events. But what must you not forget? Tasting of course – the springs with medicinal acid (formerly known as Ida) have only recently been restored. You can learn more about the history of the spa from the information panels. Entry is self-guided. Visitors can purchase tourist stamps, badges, and limited literature or postcards related to the fortifications. Tours take about 20–30 minutes. Access to the bunker is via a grassy and partially gravel path. The entrance has a step of approximately 2–3 cm.
