OUR TIP: Safari Park Dvůr Králové

Safari Park

We wish to recommend the Safari Park Dvůr Králové to visitors of any age. In the large complex you will find animals from all over the world, but especially from Africa. Its mission is to protect nature and return critically endangered species to their original habitat. That is why you can see rhinos, giraffes and herds of antelopes, as well as the only lion safari in Central Europe. The whole area is conveniently accessible on foot, by train and, within the safari, by a special bus or by car. Most of the Safari Park is wheelchair accessible. The Safari Park features the wheelchair-accessible Restaurant Lemur.

DID YOU KNOW... You can even stay overnight in the Safari Park? You can choose from the luxury of a 4* hotel and glamping tents, or you can arrive in your own caravan, pitch a tent on a designated site or use cosy bungalows. If you prefer to stay in the city, try the services of Za Vodou Hotel, where you can not only enjoy a pleasant family atmosphere but also swimming in the outdoor pool, barbecues or sitting by the pond.

Barokní areál Žireč

The Baroque Žireč complex, with its bicycle museum, herb garden and popular café, is a pleasant respite in the peace and quiet of a small village. After a visit to the Hradec Králové ZOO, such a stop is definitely worthwhile. In addition, you can take away the goodies that are produced in the sheltered workshops. The Camellus syrups and lemonades with motifs of the bicycle museum, St. Joseph’s Home or St. Anna’s Church are especially popular. Most of the complex is wheelchair-accessible, including the café, the park, and part of the church. The Cycling Museum spans three floors; the ground floor is accessible to visitors in wheelchairs.

Hospitál Kuks

The most visited place between Dvůr Králové and Jaroměř is undoubtedly Kuks Hospital. The Baroque complex with the Lékárna u granátového jablka offers tours of the interiors, but also a stop at the sculptures of Virtues and Vices by Matthias Bernard Braun, which line the front of the hospital. You can enjoy sitting in the herb garden or in the courtyard. Barrier-free access to the area is from the parking lot at Hospoda Na sýpce. The terrace in front of the hospital, the statues of Virtues and Vices, the courtyard, and the herb garden are all wheelchair-accessible. Guided tours with barrier-free access include: the Hospital, the History of Pharmacies, and the History of Drug Manufacturing.
