Czech-Polish ridge trail

The Czech-Polish ridge trail runs from the Krkonoše Mountains through Adršpach and Broumovské Stěny to the Orlické Mountains. The trail, which will delight lovers of nature, mountains and rocks, but especially hikers, starts at the Polish-Czech border at the crossing of Vosecká bouda and Hala Szrenicka. From there it heads along the ridge over Obří sedlo to Sněžka and continues to Pomezní Boudy. It is a good idea to take a break and refreshments at one of the local restaurants. From there it takes you to Poland for a while, then home and back to Poland again, so you can boast that you have taken a hike over the border. The route continues in Adršpašsko-teplické skály through Broumovské stěny to Kamenné hřiby, where ‘diehards’ will find their own. From Machov, you will head back to Poland for a while. From there, however, the road turns back again – this time to the Orlické Mountains. It will take you to Šerlich, where you can visit the Masarykova chata, which offers accommodation, but also home cooking that will certainly be appreciated after a difficult hike. We will leave it up to you if you go from there to the lookout tower on Anenský vrch or to Hanička – the artillery fortress near Rokytnice in the Orlické Mountains. You can finish the route at Zemská brána with a splash in the Divoká Orlice or hearty refreshments in the Na Čiháku restaurant.

The entire described route is nearly 150 kilometers long. Therefore, choose the section that you like the most or spread the crossing over several days.

Tips

RECOMMENDED: In Teplice nad Metují, do not miss the Merkur Kit Museum. For some it is a childhood memory, for others a unique Czech experience, but mainly an endless treasure trove of possibilities – you can build almost anything out of the Merkur kit. See for yourself, or try out the kit in virtual reality.

Dřevíček Mill, or the Millers’ Museum in Dřevíč, is located near Hronov. The tours will show you the technical background of the mill, as well as milling and carpentry crafts. Visitors with children may be interested in the fables about the local waterman or the devil’s shop.
The lookout tower with a spiral staircase on Větrná Horka near Vysoká Srbská offers a view of the Stolové Mountains, Javoří Mountains, Ostaš, Teplické skály, the Krkonoše Mountains and Orlické Mountains. However, if you are looking for something to eat head over to Penzion u Lidmanů in Machov, or the Skalní Mlýn Hotel in Adršpach. They will take care of you there!

Tips on regional beers:
Fries Brewery – beer brewed directly in the Fries mountain chalets from Czech malt and hops can be tasted on the Krkonoše beer trail.
Trautenberk is not only a well-known fairytale character, but also a brewery in Malá Úpa. The beer is brewed from Krkonoše Mountain water and quality hops and is certified as a Regional product.
Bakov Brewery not only promises great beer, but also tastings and tours of the brewery. And if you have had one too many drinks, you can even stay there.
