The highest peak of the Czech Republic can be reached from Pec pod Sněžkou in several ways. However, the following two routes are probably the most popular. And it is best to plan a sightseeing route! We assume that at the beginning, when you still have a lot of energy and determination, you will not mind the higher elevation. That is why we recommend that you climb Sněžka via Růžohorky. You can get there in a flash by following the green hiking trail. However, nothing should be overdone, so if you have time, appetite, thirst and hunger, stop at a local mountain chalet for a while. Honestly – who could even resist the thought of blueberry dumplings? After that, hit the road again – you have a solid sporting performance ahead of you. From Růžohorky, take the yellow trail, direction to Sněžka. A comfortable path will take you to the bottom of the peak.
Climb up the marked path. Especially in the winter, or in bad weather, you will appreciate that others have trodden it before you.
At the top of Sněžka, you can see the highest building in the Czech Republic – the Czech Post Office, from which you can send a postcard with an original stamp, and it is also proof that you have actually reached your destination. There are also refreshments available. You can additionally see the Chapel of St. Lawrence. The round building with windows around its perimeter is Polská bouda, which serves as a meteorological station.
The views from Sněžka are literally a reward when the weather is nice. Thanks to the location of the mountain, which is partly on the Czech and partly on the Polish side, you can literally see far and wide from here. However, the weather here is mountainous and changeable, so do not be disappointed if clouds or blizzards obscure your view.
The way back is along the Polish side and through Obří sedlo and Obří důl. Along the way it is worth looking around to make sure you do not miss the beautiful views and the waterfalls, of which there are several in the area.
